Our regular hours are Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Electrical problems don't keep that schedule, so for anything that can't safely wait, call anyway — including evenings and weekends.

When you call, we'll ask what you're seeing, walk you through making it safe — often that means switching off one breaker — and then get the problem fixed.

Emergency & After-Hours Electrician

Emergencies we handle

Sparks, smoke or burning smells

At an outlet, switch, fixture or the panel. Treat these as urgent: they point to a connection that's overheating.

Loss of power

Your whole home, or part of it, is dark while the neighbors still have power.

Storm & water damage

Wiring, outlets or equipment hit by storms, flooding or leaks — made safe before anything is switched back on.

Damaged service equipment

Meter bases and service masts damaged by storms or falling limbs, repaired so the utility can restore power.

Panel problems

A main breaker that won't reset, or a panel that's hot, buzzing or showing scorch marks.

Outlets that shock

An outlet, switch or appliance that gave someone a shock — a sign of a wiring or grounding fault.

What to do right now

  • Smoke or flames: get everyone out and call 911 first.
  • A downed power line: stay far away, keep others away and call your power company.
  • Sparks or a burning smell at an outlet or switch: turn off that circuit's breaker if you can reach the panel safely, then call.
  • The whole neighborhood is dark: that's the utility — report it to your power company.
  • Water near outlets or the panel: don't touch them, and only shut off the main if you can stay dry.

FAQ

Emergency & After-Hours Electrician: common questions

Do you take calls after hours?

Yes. Our regular hours are Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Outside those hours we take emergency and after-hours calls.

Is it an emergency, or can it wait?

Sparks, smoke, burning smells, hot outlets or panels, water near electrical equipment and shocks are emergencies. A single dead outlet or a light that won't come on can usually wait for regular hours — just leave it switched off.

My power is out. Should I call you or the power company?

If your neighbors are out too, call your power company. If it's just your home, or just part of it, check your panel for a tripped main or branch breaker. If the power doesn't come back, call us.

What should I tell you when I call?

Your address, what you're seeing, smelling or hearing, whether any breakers have tripped and whether anyone is at risk. Photos help if it's safe to take them.
